Mikey’s Summer Bucket List

The Summer holidays are finally here!  Depending how many things we have to juggle will influence how happy we are about this, 6 weeks can feel like a long time! With help from our families and facebook friends, Mikey has started writing his bucket list of things we can do TOGETHER and none of them cost anything other than TIME

However, we feel sure they will all provide our children with some precious memories and fabulous language learning experiences – We would love to know how many NEW words your children will be using by the end of the holidays, maybe you can make a note of some of the new ones your hear?

Mikey’s List so far….

Picnic in the park

Make Daisy Chains, Den making

Camp in the Garden/Sleepover

Rose Petal Potions

Paddling pool and water play

Go to the Beach

Play Hide and Seek

Adventures at the allotment and lots more….

As we enjoy these activities we will share them here on Mikey’s Blog and we hope you will share some of yours too! It is only when we look back on past Summer holidays do we realise how precious they were for us all. Our best advice for any times you may have together can be found in the words of one of our favourite poems “I took his hand and followed…

I Took His Hand and Followed

My dishes went unwashed today
I didn’t make my bed
I took his hand and followed
Where his eager footsteps led.

Oh yes, we went adventuring
My little child and I
Exploring all the great outdoors
Beneath the sun and sky

We watched a robin feed her young
We climbed a sunlit hill
Saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky
We plucked a daffodil.

That my house was so neglected
That I didn’t brush the stairs
In twenty years no one on earth
Will know or even care.

But that I’ve helped my little child
To noble adulthood grow
In twenty years the whole wide world
May look and see and know.
