Passionate that all children should have the opportunity to become CONFIDENT COMMUNICATORS and each day is full of ENGAGING, ENABLING AND ENHANCING Language learning opportunities ensuring we are 'GROWING TALK TOGETHER'
Our work is child lead and inspiration has come from time spent observing, playing & nurturing our own uniquely different children's language learning

"There is no greater gift you can give a child….. than the ability to communicate"   Dr Sally Ward (2000)
I am a qualified teacher, who has taught in an extensive range of educational establishments from 0 – 18 years, both in the UK and USA. In 1998 I became a Mum to a wonderful little girl, however at 3 days old, she suffered a brain injury. Subsequently, I have worked closely with many therapists, in particular Speech and Language Therapists, for many years and continue to do so on a daily basis. My second child was a little boy, full of chatter and endless energy. My knowledge and understanding both as teacher and as a parent has therefore provided me with first - hand experience of the many different ways children communicate. Providing me with understanding and passion to support and meet the needs of each unique child, their families and early years practitioners. Our Growing Talk programme has enabled me to work in a diverse range of early years settings and children’s centres across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire.

I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1985 specialising in pre school and school age language delay/disorders. In 1999 I left full time employment with the NHS in order to focus on developing creative ways of sharing ideas with families and professionals to support early communication and language development . In addition to my partnership with Sara and Tots on Tour, I work as an independent early language consultant. A highlight of my career to date was the Every Child a Talker initiative where I was the North Lincolnshire lead, working with an inspirational team of professionals and families, striving to enhance children’s language leaning. I am currently studying for an MA at Pen Green Research Centre allowing me to really explore what we mean by 'Integrated provision for families and children in the early years.'
It is playing, chatting, working together and learning from our children; both my own and others, their families and carers that really excites me.
